Short Profile:
Matteo Giordano is a macro-financial and political economist. He completed his Ph.D. at SOAS University of London, where he also served as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics. He is an Associate Researcher at the Global Climate Forum in Berlin, where he contributes to the OBFA-TRANSFORM project, and is a member of the European Research Network on Economic and Social Policy (EReNSEP). He currently works in the private sector.
His primary research interests include European political economy, financialization, financial and monetary macroeconomics, international economics, and the history of economic thought. His work is particularly focused on monetary systems, with a specific emphasis on the Eurozone and the CFA Franc.
Matteo’s current projects include research on monetary and financial subordination in the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), the modeling of financial macro-structures and debt management, and the assessment of the Global Financial Crisis and the Eurozone Crisis through the lens of evolving financial architectures. His methodology involves working extensively with financial and monetary time series and panel data, utilizing both aggregated and disaggregated micro-level datasets.
