This website is built and hosted with Webflow, a service of Webflow, Inc., San Francisco, USA. To deliver the website quickly and securely, Webflow uses content delivery networks, including Amazon CloudFront, Fastly and Cloudflare. When you open a page, your browser automatically transmits technical data, which is stored in server log files:
IP address, date and time of the request, the page or file requested, the website from which you were referred (referrer), browser type and version, and operating system.
We use this data only to display the website, to ensure its stability and security and to defend against attacks. We do not combine it with other data sources or use it to identify you. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in the secure and reliable operation of this website. Webflow processes the data on our behalf under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR).
Data may be processed in the USA. Webflow is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision (Art. 45 GDPR). In addition, Webflow's data processing agreement includes the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. More information: Webflow privacy policy.
This website uses SSL/TLS encryption for security reasons. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” in the address bar and the lock symbol in your browser.
We do not use cookies for analytics, marketing or tracking. For this reason, there is no cookie banner on this website.
When you move from a project page back to the project overview, your browser temporarily stores the name of the project you came from (session storage), so that the overview can scroll back to it. This information contains no personal data, is not transmitted to us and is deleted automatically when you close the browser tab. This storage is strictly necessary to provide the function you requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG).
If you contact us by email or phone, we process the information you provide (e.g. name, email address, content of your message) in order to handle your request. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your request relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures, and otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in answering enquiries. We delete the data once your request has been fully handled, unless statutory retention obligations require longer storage.
On our Resources page we embed the interactive map “DIVACoast Explorer”. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open this page, your browser connects to GitHub's servers, which receive your IP address and the technical data listed in section 2.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest lies in presenting our research tools in an accessible way. GitHub is certified under the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Art. 45 GDPR). More information: GitHub privacy statement.
This website contains links to external websites, for example to journals, project websites and code repositories. Data is only transmitted to these providers when you click a link. From that point on, the privacy policy of the respective provider applies.
If you apply for a position with us, we process the data contained in your application in order to carry out the application procedure. The legal basis is § 26 BDSG in conjunction with Art. 88 GDPR and Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. If we employ you, your data will be kept for the purposes of the employment relationship. If your application is not successful, we delete your documents six months after informing you of our decision, unless you have agreed to longer storage or legal claims require us to keep them.
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
access your personal data (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20), and to withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)).
Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR): Where we process your data on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right to object to this processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. We will then no longer process the data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
To exercise your rights, a short message to info@globalclimateforum.org is sufficient.
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is:
Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit
