Short Profile:

Jahel Mielke is a researcher at the Global Climate Forum and a visiting scholar at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. As a sustainability scientist, she examines coordination problems and stakeholder processes in the transition to a low-carbon economy in Europe.

Her thesis focused on the role of institutional investors in the energy transition, merging concepts of stakeholder involvement and game theory.

Currently, Jahel is working on an interactive methodology for stakeholder dialogues conducted in a visualisation environment called Decision Theatre. The digital tools in this environment allow participants to better understand and give feedback on simulation models as well as to co-create scenario-based narratives for sustainability transitions.

An economist and journalist by training, Jahel previously worked for the national newspaper “Der Tagesspiegel” dealing with economic issues such as trade and the labour market. Having studied in Cologne, Bordeaux and Potsdam, she holds a diploma in economics and political science as well as a degree in journalism from the Cologne School of Journalism.
